Risk Assessment

The aquaculture of finfish, shellfish, and algae entails various inherent risks, encompassing disease outbreaks, predation, deterioration of water quality, and equipment malfunctions. Such malfunctions may occur in adverse environmental conditions, including elevated wind speeds and significant wave action during storm events. A comprehensive understanding of the risks linked to mooring systems, alongside effective risk management strategies, is crucial for the successful management of aquaculture farms.

Aquaculture Consulting

MAREDAX provide expert guidance on sustainable finfish, shellfish, and seaweed aquaculture. A mooring system should be suitably designed for the production methodology and the environmental conditions anticipated at the location. The mooring system must be subject to regular inspections and maintained to an adequate standard to ensure it meets its minimum design specifications throughout its service life.

Environmental Solutions

In addition to the combined 100 years combined experience that we bring to our work, it is carried out in accordance with the following standards for design, construction and maintenance of maritime structures:

  • Scottish Technical Standard for Fin-fish Aquaculture ISBN: 9781785443725
  • NS 9415:2021 Floating aquaculture farms – Site survey, design, execution and use
  • ISO 16488:2015 Marine finfish farms. Open net cage. Design and operation.
  • BS 6349-1-1:2013 General. Code of practice for planning and design for operations
  • DNVGL-OS-E301 Position mooring
  • DNVGL-RP-C205 Environmental conditions and environmental loads

All our mooring systems & aquaculture structures are:

 ✔ High-performance design

✔ Heavy duty construction

✔ Long life & low maintenance
